Exercise 3: Share/Revise your own many-to-many solutions
Form a group of 3-4 students and:
- Share your solutions with each other.
- Discuss advantages and disadvantages. Do not waste resources. Steer toward the lowest tech, lowest energy solution that will work.
- Post both your original and your new/revised solutions here and later on your wordpress site.
Problems
Newspapers are losing subscribers and ads
The oceans are dying
Religions are divisive
Visual art is too static
Student films are always set in dorms
Stock photographs cost too much
Educational books are boring
You never have a camera when you need it
The spatial dimensions of sound are underappreciated
Centralized economies are unstable
Now your preliminary task for this course is to identify a problem or issues that the social technologies of New Media can address
Answer:
The oceans are dying
Someone must take the time to make some sort of a youtube video on this crisis. YouTube is viral and can spread word almost faster than any other social media or news sight. Make a website that shows you a map and on that map, there are links that you can click on, (links would be in the form of stars on the map, precisely on the different oceans, gulfs, etc.) and learn all about the oceans issues. You can click the “share” button and it will automatically go to your facebook page, showing all your friends the concerns for the oceans. Also on this website you can donate, whether it’s five dollars or five hundred, to helping repair the oceans and also help with research. This is when social media takes over, and really does good for the world.
