New Media Around the University of Maine

Today as I look around the my Mass Communications class before it starts, I see absolutely everyone with some sort of “device” in their hands. Not one person is just sitting there patiently waiting which in a way kind of bothers me. Actually, now that I think about it, if I weren’t writing this right now, I would probably be on my phone or on Facebook… Like during commercials, I never watch them anymore. I either fast-forward through them because I recorded my program, or I sit on my iPod touch or phone… I feel sort of pathetic now. Technology scares the shit out of me now that I think about it more. Oh well, right?

I just walked from my dorm to the library, with my headphones in, blaring of course. Having my music in my ears makes me feel more comfortable for some reason. Maybe it’s because it’s a piece of home? As I looked around, I saw that a lot of people actually have headphone in. It’s pretty cool how everyone can have their own music in their ears, ya know? Whoever thought of it is a smart one.

So today was a weird day. I walked around campus around 10 at night, and even the drunk kids were on the phone. Why, if you’re underage and drunk would you talk on the phone? And kids when they’re drunk break their phones all the time… It’s so annoying. I heard this one girl screaming “My phone is BROKEN?!?” It was raining…..

Today I sat watching TV in my room… It was a rather lazy day. I also did laundry… It amazes me that I can throw some detergent in a machine and it will wash my clothes. I know that sounds nerdy and believe me I totally recognize that. But if I seriously had to wash all my clothes by hand, I would not be a happy camper to say the least. I’m not “lazy”, but I’m lazy.

I am sitting on my bed doing homework and I am thinking about how much I would die without my Macbook. I literally don’t know what I would do. All of my homework and schoolwork revolves around my computer. I mean look at New Media…. Man. So fortunate.

I am exhausted today but decided to go to the gym because I thought it was a good idea. The only thing that got my through was my iPod. I love my iPod… I don’t even care that it’s a second generation. That thing is so awesome….
